Jen's Favorite Blogs of the Year

By , SparkPeople Blogger
As 2011 comes to a close (geez- time sure flies!), I've been thinking about the blogs I've written over the past year.  Some are topics that I've been asked to write about (hot topics in the news, etc.), others are stories I've come across through my own research, and then some are just things that I observe and think about in everyday life.  I thought I'd share a few of the favorites that stick out in my mind:

Learning to Live a Life of Simplicity
I wrote this blog because it's something that I've been struggling with in my life.  The comments and suggestions I received were so thoughtful- some of them brought tears to my eyes.  This is a blog that I'll look back on frequently for a long time to come.

Poll:  Would You Trade One Year for the Perfect Body?
People had very strong feelings on both sides of this question.  (A lot of people either said "No way!" or "Definitely!"  There wasn’t much middle ground.) The percentage of people who said "yes" was a lot higher than I expected, but some had great reasons for why they felt the way they did.  It gave me something to think about.

The Journey Back to a Fitter Me
I started this blog while I was on maternity leave, hoping that it could inspire others like me who are struggling with life changes.  I got a lot of motivation from others who said they were excited to join the journey with me and get back into a regular exercise program.

My Foray Into Vegetable Gardening
I wanted to start a garden for a long time, and I'm so happy I finally had the courage to try.  The purpose of this blog was to show other people to see how easy and fun it can be.  I'm already looking forward to my garden next year!

The Single Best Exercise for Weight Loss
I debated whether or not to use this title.  I knew it was slightly deceiving because you weren't going to get quite what you’d expect by clicking on it.  But I really wanted people to understand why enjoying what you do is far more important than picking an activity only because it burns a lot of calories.  I'd rather be a happy walker than a miserable sprinter any day.

I hope you enjoy reading these blogs as much as I enjoyed writing them!  I'm looking forward to what’s ahead in 2012!

Happy New Year!
