Spark Spotlight: Tiffany (JAPANGURL17)

By , SparkPeople Blogger
At SparkPeople, we love helping people accomplish big goals—but we believe it's equally important to celebrate the small successes along the way. Each week in the Spark Spotlight, we'll check in with a featured member about his or her proudest moments, biggest challenges and advice for others on living, thinking and feeling healthier. We hope these quick snapshots will help motivate you to keep moving steadily toward your own goals, week by week.

Small Success of the Week

Tiffany is happy to report she ran her first 2.5 miles ever without stopping!

What's your overall goal?

I want to take better care of my body. A small step toward achieving this goal is to train to run a 5K.

How is SparkPeople helping you get there?

SparkPeople has helped me with building friendships; we hold each other accountable. I enjoy using my Fitbit to connect the information to the SparkPeople app, so it tracks my eating, steps, exercise and more—which is extremely helpful!

What's your biggest challenge right now?

My biggest challenge right now is to stay motivated to run. It is the rainy season in Japan and I am an outdoor runner. When I mentioned this to my friend he said, "Just run in the rain, it's not gonna hurt you." To be honest, he was right! Whatever we really want, we are going to fight for it. It doesn't matter if it's weather circumstances or even games that we fight in our head, the more we fight against this resistance, the easier it will get. So tonight, I'm going to go running.

What advice do you have for someone who just joined SparkPeople today?

First, welcome! Second, please join and participate in active groups and be open with your addiction to food or even your body issues. By being open with others and accepting one another's struggles, we will be able to work together to reach our overall goals!
