"When I was growing up we had two ferrets. Those things were so energetic, wily and precocious. One of my favorite things about them (among many of their hilarious antics) was that they would steal just about anything they could get their mouths on and drag away. They had a little hiding place behind a bookshelf in the corner. We decided to clean out their nest one day and were rolling with laughter at what we found: an entire box worth of tissues, an ear of corn, a taquito, various pieces of paper, a feminine hygiene item or two and a photograph of my brother. Silly little critters!" --NWHURLEYGIRL
"I got up one Saturday morning all groggy, and two of my doxies ran past me wearing something on their heads, so I followed them to take a closer look. Lo and behold they had chewed one of my bras in half, and each was wearing one half with the strap right under their little heads. True story. Got to love those little doxies!" --DOXIELADY52
"My dog throws things at me when I'm apparently being boring or when he wants to go for a drive or walk. Usually, it's my shoes or a drooled-on toy, or occasionally even my purse. [It's like he's saying] 'We're gonna need this' It's impossible to stay depressed or preoccupied with other problems with footwear or soggy toys in your lap."

"I take my labs out without a leash as they usually obey since they are 11. One night, in the dark, the usually gentle obedient dog took off on me! So there I was chasing her in my pink robe and slippers. It was too dark so I came back and put clothes on and walked and walked looking for her only to give up and come home and find her standing in the yard looking at me. That is not a fun way to get one's exercise for the day!" --CAPTAINMORGAN2
"One evening I was filling the dishwasher, turning my back now and again to gather dishes. Evidently I missed the part when my cat Elton decided to explore the dishwasher more closely and I shut the dishwasher door. As I was wiping off the counters I heard a muffled meow. I looked around and listened again. It was coming from the dishwasher! I opened the door and out marched Elton. It was a good thing that I wasn’t planning on running the dishwasher AND that I stayed in the kitchen long enough to hear his plea! I laughed all the way to the telephone to share a laugh with my daughter. I am learning that Elton is bound to make me laugh on a regular basis. This is a good thing for me! I could use some more laughter in my life, but then who couldn't?" --JANHIM
"Every time I sit down to eat, my dog thinks she needs whatever I'm having. Yesterday I was in a hurry so I told her she had to eat dog food and I had my lunch. I had set my plate on the arm of the couch when I was finished. When I came home I found she had piled the plate full of dog food. I think she was saying, 'Have you tried this stuff?'"

"When my first cat Tabitha was a kitten, she used to wait outside the bedroom door in the mornings when I first got up and would run ahead of me into the bathroom and jump on the toilet seat. Well, one night my husband forgot to put the seat down and the next morning, Tabitha ran ahead of me as usual, jumped for the toilet and landed inside! It was so funny as I watched her sitting there in the toilet bowl in cold water, eyes wide and shocked and wondering what the heck had happened!" --JAYJAY44
"We call Jade the 'squirrely' cat because she is crazy! She will play with anything that remotely moves. Jade tries to climb up the window blinds, plays with our feet at the end of the bed, and even tries to climb up the door frame sometimes. You can always tell when she's ready to pounce because she gets low and wiggles her butt. She can also jump super high! Pets are so fun--they help keep you sane!" --JRSIMPSON485
"I had a cat who was obsessed with--but deathly afraid of--pumpkins. October was a horrible month for him. If we brought a pumpkin home, he would just stare at it. If he turned around too fast, he would see it and jump straight up into the air in fright. We could never figure out what it was about pumpkins." --POKIEFUZZBUCKET
"When my son was little, we would go camping for our vacations. One time we were at a mountain lake and the temperatures were pretty cold at night. I woke up in the middle of the night and saw my son on the tent floor in a semi-fetal position shivering. I wondered why he was outside his sleeping bag and looked around to find our dog had pushed him out and was sleeping very comfortably inside my son's sleeping bag!"

"My two cats were feral kittens when I trapped them to adopt them. The male was particularly traumatized. I kept him in a large kennel for the first week to slowly introduce him to his new digs. About every hour, I'd spend about 15 minutes with him, reaching inside the kennel to pet him. He would press himself into the far corner, as far away from me as he could get. Eventually, he calmed down enough to join his sister to explore the house, but he always kept his distance from me. Then one evening about a month or so later, while I was sitting on the couch watching TV, I felt a tap on my leg. I looked down and saw the little guy sitting at my feet. I slowly reached down to give him a pet, and he balanced up on his hind legs to bump his head against my hand. This is a ritual we've had ever since, and it always reminds me of how great it felt to finally win his trust." --EABL81
"My cat is 11 months old now and is my little buddy since it's just the two of us in my apartment. He tries to play and get my attention when I am exercising. Just today, he sat directly under my face when I was doing kettlebell pushups with rows so I smashed my face into his belly when I did the push up!" --MANDRAWR
